Concrete Masonry Units and Hollow Concrete Block

Concrete masonry units, otherwise referred to as hollow concrete blocks are used in a wide range of applications.

  • Retaining wall
  • Perimeter fencing
  • MRT tunnel construction
  • Any other building and structural elements

Its advantage compared to a solid brick or cement is that it is relatively light weight, yet it provides a good strength due to the well mixed concrete and compaction. This results in a cost effective, easy to install, load bearing /non-load bearing product.

It can safely withstand the atmospheric action and it requires no protective covering. In addition, the hollow concrete block has good insulating properties against sound, heat and dampness.

Further, the cavities running horizontally as well as vertically allow access for plumbing and electrical conduits as well as reinforcing materials like steel bars (if the design requires).

It is typically made in  concrete grey. However, specific colours can be manufactured by adding colour pigments.
